I'm playing an Outlander and did a little bit of research prior to jumping in. While streaming, one of my viewers recommended Synergies. I read very little about it but decided to go head first into elite rather than the lower difficulties. I started playing Torchlight II a couple weeks ago. The guards in the Estherian enclave decided to attack the target dummy and wont stop even if I exit and reenter the city or restart the game. Is there a way to save the vanquisher guard dude in the first level from the swarm or ratlin? It felt like in the time it took for me to slowly kill everything from a distance with magma spear he was already dead (in the lower difficulty I could just run in and kill everything). Is this just due to synergies upping the monster density by a lot? (Meaning I should go back to vanilla or try the low pop version of synergies first). Is this just a result of playing on elite difficulty? (Meaning I should go back to veteran). Is this slowness just a result of being an early game embermage? (Meaning things get faster at higher levels).Any tips from the more experienced players? My problem now is that I changed too many variables so I dont know what went wrong. In particular, there was this elite bear dude early in act 1 that took like 5 minutes to kill (his shield never broke) and after all of that he only dropped a measly 13 gold or something like that. Unfortunately, the game now felt like a drag - enemies take forever to kill and I make progress very slowly. After finishing my last playthrough (a right-click berzerker on vanilla and veteran difficulties) I decided to change things a bit and started a fire-based embermage on elite difficulty and with the synergies mod.
